Season's greetings!
Dear FACCI Members,
As the end of the year draws to a close and we are all
trying to tick everything off the never-ending ‘to do’ list before closing for a well-deserved
break, our team across our four Chapters would like to take this
opportunity to say thank you for all of your support during the year.
2011 has been an eventful year and we would not have been
able to deliver such a diverse programme of events and activities without
you. Indeed, this year has been exceptionally rewarding and much of our
success is due to the participation and involvement of many longstanding
and supportive members, as well as new and enthusiastic members who have
joined during the year.
We have already started working on our 2012 preliminary
calendar of events which you can find in the events section of the
newsletter. We have also been developing new membership benefits and
services which we are excited about such as the new online Members’ Directory.
These will be launched early next year as we send you information for
your membership renewal. So, stay tuned!
We wish you a happy and safe festive season and we look
forward to seeing you all in the new year.
Warm regards,
The Team at FACCI |

VIC | 2011 Renault Concours des Vins du Victoria
Thursday
24 November - Medaillon Club at Etihad Stadium
The
2011 Renault Concours des Vins du Victoria lived up to expectations with
a fabulous line-up of 339 Victorian wines submitted in ten different
classes, and an enthusiastic record crowd of over 1,000 winemakers, FACCI
members and guests who converged at the Medallion Club at Etihad Stadium
for the much anticipated awards presentation and tasting event.
This year’s judging panel was chaired by Bernard Burtschy,
wine writer for Le Figaro and La Revue du Vin de France. The other senior
judges included Jean-Michel Durivault from CQFDegustation, Gilles Lapalus
from Sutton Grange Winery, Loic Le Calvez from Taltarni, Dominique and
Ben Portet from Dominique Portet Winery, RACV Sommelier Christian Maier
and Ludovic Deloche from French wine importer La Halle aux Vins, who were
all thrilled to be part of the 2011 judging panel and have been strong supporters of the Concours des Vins du
Victoria in the past.
Whilst it was yet another tough line-up for the judges to
taste their way through, Dromana Estate from the Mornington Peninsula
went on to win another hat-trick after last year’s trophies for Best
Wine, Best White Wine and Best Chardonnay in the Show. This year,
their 2010 Dromana Estate Pinot Noir won the
Jean Hameury / Arkema Trophy for Best Pinot Noir, the Renault Trophy for
Best Red Wine, and finally the FACCI Trophy for Best Wine in the Show!

NSW | 2011 FACCI Regatta
Friday 25 November -
Cruising Yacht Club of Australia
On Friday 25 November, FACCI held its annual Regatta at the prestigious
Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) at
Rushcutters Bay, Sydney. This year, the weather seemed intent on dampening the anticipation for this highlight on the Chamber's calendar.
However, committed members and company teams turned up, registered,
mingled and prepared themselves to enjoy a great afternoon of sailing no
matter what the weather or the sailing odds predicted.
All the more welcomed, the eager participants were informed of the daily
program and the competitions that lay ahead – as fervent sailors , good
sports men and women or photographers. Read

Grand Prix VIE Australie 2011
The
first Edition of the Grand Prix VIE Australie was held in Sydney on 1 December,
2011 with the participation of H.E. Mr.
Stéphane Romatet, Ambassador for France to Australia;
and Christophe Lecourtier, Managing Director of Ubifrance.
This initiative aims to raise the profile of the French
volunteer (VIE) program with French companies and reward some of the
most outstanding participants from the contingent of eighty young
professionals currently based in Australia.
Among the 24 projects submitted, 9 finalists were selected
and 4 young professionals were rewarded:
The Grand Prize, for Best Project, was awarded to Lucile Bourguet from Tenesol
(Total). Lucy is currently under a V.I.E. contract but this is
not her first professional experience as she has been a Tenesol
employee for the last 5 years but she convinced the company to post her
in Australia: “I am very proud of this prize and very excited about the
future of the company in Australia”.
Lucile Bourguet, VIE at Tenesol, with H.E. Stéphane
Romatet, Ambassador for France to Australia and Christophe Lecourtier,
Managing Director at Ubifrance
- V.I.E. Performance Award, focusing on the impact of the V.I.E.
participant and their entrepreneurship in the company’s results and
development, was awarded to Florent Bouvier from ‘Vignobles Travers’,
wine importing company.
- V.I.E. Integration Award, recognising the adaptation of the V.I.E.
participant to the company environment and to the country, awarded to
Cécile Caminel, Project Manager at Lesaffre Australia
- international leader in bakery yeast manufacture and supply.
- Special Prize from the Jury awarded to Jérémy Daunay, from Tiger Grip
who launched a brand new French product in Australia. Jérémy said that
‘every big firm has been a start-up first.’
The prizes
awarded were generously supported by the CCEF Australie, Ubifrance,
FACCI, Bouygues, SPF, Groupe Seb, Total, Accor, Clarins, Le Coq Sportif,
Pernod Ricard, Arc International and Polyglot.
Christophe
Lecourtier also reminded the importance of Australia as an economic and
business partner for France: “More than 250 French companies are
established in Australia and the enthusiasm of our young professionals
to set-up here is growing”.
H.E. Mr. Stéphane Romatet, Ambassador for France to
Australia concluded the evening by addressing the V.I.E. professionals
present at the ceremony, and reminded that Australia is today ‘’the
place to be”. His Excellency has also expressed the wish to double the
number of VIE in Australia to benefit and stimulate the growth of
French companies down under.
