Meet the CEO networking evening with Graham Turner, Founder of Flight Centre - Thursday 1 June

The French-Australian Chamber of Commerce  in Queensland is pleased to invite you to its annual Meet the CEO networking evening with Graham Turner, Founder and CEO of the Flight Centre Travel Group, on Thursday 1 June from 6pm to 8.30pm.

From one shop in the early 1980's, Flight Centre Travel Group has become a $18 billion business. One of the world’s largest travel agency groups, it has operations in 14 countries and a corporate travel management network that spans more than 90 countries. It employs more than 19,000 people globally and has a total of 40 brands!

Find out more about the compelling business journey of Queensland boy Graham Turner over drinks and canapes, generously offered by our host EY.

    Graham Turner

Graham “Skroo” (as he is known locally) Turner was raised on an apple orchard near the town of Stanthorpe and later trained as a veterinarian at the University of Queensland. After graduating, Skroo worked as a vet in Victoria before moving to London. In London, he and friend Geoff “Spy” Lomas, took their first steps into the travel industry in 1973 when they invested the equivalent of $1,300 in an ageing bus and started operating budget double-decker bus trips around

Europe, North Africa and Asia. Top Deck Travel had grown into a thriving business with some 80 buses when Skroo and his colleagues sold the business to management and devoted their full attention to their new venture Flight Centre. We know the result: from one shop in 1982 to 50 across Australia in the late 80's, the group has now 550 stores worldwide, including in Canada, New Zealand, the UK, South Africa, Canada, the USA (where it is spelled the American way, Flight Center), India (where it is called Flight Shop), New Zealand, Dubai, Singapore, China and Hong Kong.
