French Cancan, accordionist and French singer highlighted our FACCI WA Champagne Breakfast on Saturday, July 13th.
On arrival our guests could admire the beautiful Renault cars from Regents Renault displayed in front of our venue at “Chez Pierre Restaurant”. Two cycling bikes cleverly displayed in the hallway reminded us of the Tour de France currently taking place. Blue, white and red balloons decorated all tables, where our guests could start the celebration with coffee, tea, Crôque Madame, Salmon on Blinis, Pissaladière, and Chicken Liver & Cognac parfait. Meanwhile, our French singer Geraldine Rey from Earplug Music performed a classic from Edith Piaf, accompanied by the beautiful accordionist Nikki Dagostino, from “The little squeeze box”. A professional high kicking routine was then demonstrated by the glamorously dressed French Cancan Girls.
Christine Caseris, FACCI WA President, welcomed all guests and made a speech highlighting the importance of the Bastille Day celebration. “Its real meaning lies a year after the storming of the Bastille, when on July 14th, 1790 the “Fête de la Fédération” allowed to reach a consensus as a symbol of the fraternal union of all parts of France and all French citizens”.
As to honour tradition, the French and the Australian anthems were sung by our guests in one voice, accompanied by our talented accordionist. Guests enjoyed traditional cocktail croissants, pains au chocolat and éclairs with a glass of champagne, while taking the opportunity to exchange business cards.
French songs were then happily sung by Australians and French alike. The French Cancan closed our event leaving our guests happily chatting away, before leaving the venue with balloons as a symbol of fraternity.
We would like to thank again our sponsor Renault and Chez Pierre Restaurant for providing us with a beautiful venue. Thank you to Rail Plus who offered our lucky draw winner, Mathieu Ablard from GDF Suez, passes for 4 days of travel in France for 2 persons. Many thanks to both our talented singer Geraldine and accordionist Nikki for the entertainment.
