This strategic document was officially presented to François Hollande and Tony Abbott in Canberra on Wednesday 19 November during an official luncheon in honour of the French president.
This event was attended by representatives of the French Australian business community and was once again an occasion to discuss ways to further promote French investment in Australia and to raise awareness of Australian market opportunities for French companies.
France is an open and dynamic partner and there are strong complementarities which exist between many of our economies’ high performing sectors and the opportunities offered by Australia’s areas of strategic development:
• Energy sector (considerable reserves of natural gas and the opportunities offered by renewable energy)
• Agribusiness (agriculture and agribusiness industries)
• Services (tourism, education, financial services)
• High-tech industries (aerospace, defence, information and communication technology)
• Health (biotechnology)
• Infrastructure (transport and environment).

A comparative study of French and Australian Procurement strategies
Since 1899, the French Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has strived to promote French and Australian Business Relations, supporting the development of various industries on Australian soil. Charged with over 116 years of history, Business is part of our DNA and we greet 2015 with a wide range of developments all aimed to benefit our members.
It is for this reason that we are very pleased to present the first publication of a series of Partnered Business Studies to be released over the course of the year.
This publication, developed in collaboration with our Corporate Member Infosys Portland investigates the Procurement practices of French and Australian organisations based in Australia, titled “The Savoir Faire of Buying”.
This study will address the following points:
• Procurement roles in the organisation, key priorities and challenges for 2015
• Procurement model (Centralised vs. Decentralised, Global vs Local)
• Impact of Technology (eCommerce, Big Data, Mobile, etc)
This is a truly innovative project that will advance the Chamber and its business community through informing, supporting and development of its Members and their network.
