The French-Australian Chamber of Commerce NSW Chapter was delighted to host an Economic Outlook Briefing on Thursday 30 March with Paul Bloxham, Chief Economist at HSBC Australia & New Zealand.
Paul gave an insightful presentation on how to manage the opportunities and risks associated with Australia’s broadening links to China. His speech addressed how strong links to China have underpinned Australia's economic growth in recent years.
During the event, Paul explained that while China's demand for Australia's high-quality resources has been a key part of the story, more recently the relationship has broadened to exports of tourism, education and other services. As China's economy shifts, Australia is adjusting to changing demands. As always, with opportunities come risks. And local policymakers and businesses need to manage them both.
The French Australian Chamber of Commerce would express our gratitude to Paul Bloxham for his insightful speech. Many thanks also to Scott Treatt, Partner at Pitcher Partners for chairing this session.
Thanks to HSBC Australia and Alexandre Lheritier, Head of Large Corporates - Global Banking, for hosting our event and for the delicious catering.
Last but not least, we would like to thank all the participants who attended this event despite the difficult weather!
