The South Australian branch of the Australian Water Association (AWA) held their Awards Gala Dinner on 18 November. The awards celebrate the outstanding work contributed by individuals and organisations in the water sector. South Australian Suez employee Jennifer Dreyfus was thrilled to win the Young Water Professional of the Year award category!
This prestigious award recognises young water professionals who have outstanding career achievements to date and who have the potential to play a large and influential role in the water industry.
Jennifer is a French Australian bi-national and has been living and working in Australia for a number of years. Her win is recognition of her commitment to the water industry and her hard work and no doubt she has an exciting career ahead of her.
Jennifer plays a key role in contributing to some cutting edge technology undertaken at Allwater where she works as a Site Engineer. Allwater, a joint venture between Broadspectrum and Suez, works closely in partnership with SA Water through the Adelaide Services Alliance and delivers water and wastewater services to 1.2 million customers, providing front line services to operate and maintain metropolitan Adelaide’s water and wastewater assets.
Allwater is at the forefront of delivering energy efficiency via various initiatives including a process called co-digestion which turns biogas into electricity at a number of wastewater treatment plants providing on-site power generation and earlier this year Allwater was awarded the AWA National Program Innovation Award for its successful energy management program. Recycled water schemes operated and maintained by Allwater play a significant role in reducing the amount of nutrients discharged to sea and minimise the use of drinking water for non-potable activities like irrigation of parklands. Pleasingly the levels of recycled water made available to customers in metropolitan Adelaide are the highest in the nation. Jennifer has been pivotal in contributing to these industry initiatives and showcased some of this work at the International Water Association World Congress in Brisbane in October 2016.
