Award winning French artisan boulanger Gontran Cherrier has opened his third Australian store on Swan St Richmond this month.
To celebrate, the store will be selling the limited edition Le Crackle croissant. Baked with quince paste and topped with pork crackling, it is your next major food crush.
Fans of the crescent shaped treat are encouraged to head in to Richmond early on November 19, 20 and 21 with the store giving out free regular croissants to the first 50 customers across the three days as well as selling Le Crackle for a limited season.
Known for their incredible layers, cake-like flavour, crisp crust and light, chewy interior, Gontran Cherrier croissants, along with the baguettes and viennoiserie, are made exclusively with French butter and pure, unrefined T45 and T65 Bagetelle French flour, imported direct from the motherland.
The new store will also be stocked with the same best-selling fresh baked baguettes, almond croissants, heavy-hitting 1kg Miso Ryes, and delicate eclairs as the existing Collingwood and Hawthorn stores. Together with freshly ground coffees by ST. Ali, Gontran Cherrier has understandably developed a loyal fanbase among the francophiles, carb and caffeine-lovers of Melbourne.
Gontran, who will be visiting the new store in 2019, said that Richmond was the natural location for his third Australian store.
“My first Australian store was Collingwood as it reminded me of the cultural melting pot that is Montmartre – where I opened by very first boulangerie,” Gontran said.
“This was followed by our second store in Hawthorn, which has a lovely suburban community feel, and now Richmond, which has an eclectic mix of creative types, sports and music fans and residents.
“I love this about Melbourne; the distinct personalities of its suburbs, it reminds me of the districts of Paris. I look forward to bringing the art of French boulangerie to Swan St.”
Gontran Cherrier Richmond is now open at 85 Swan St, Richmond
Hours: 7am – 4pm, seven days
Opening Special Offers: Free croissants for the first 50 customers each day from November 19 - 21. Le Crackle croissant is available to buy from 17 November for a limited time only from the Richmond boulangerie.
