On Friday 21st July 2017, the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FACCI) hosted the 14th Tour de France Lunch at Peninsula (Docklands). Over 400 guests came together to celebrate the Tour de France during the final stages of the race.
This year, the French-Australian Chamber was delighted to work in partnership with BMC, Castel Group, Aircalin, Cycling Australia, FinnairSea, Fulgaz and Gontran Cherrier who were a fantastic support during the event. The 2017 Tour de France Lunch is proud to support its Charity Partner, Tour de Cure, a cycling association that rides to put an end to cancer. Funds have been raised through the Silent Auction to support Tour de Cure in their vital mission.
The lunch was proudly hosted by our two Masters of Ceremonies, Gabriel Gaté, who has led the peloton of this annual celebration of La Grande Boucle, and David Culbert, who hosted a very insightful and interesting panel discussion. Guests were able to hear first-hand from Simon Jones, High Performance Director at Cycling Australia and Pat Shaw, Ex-Pro Cyclist, who shared their experiences of the race. We were also pleased to hear from The Hon John Eren MP, Minister for Sport, Michael Ebeid, Managing Director at SBS and Cadel Evans with a live interview from France.
Guests enjoyed a five course menu designed by Frederic Naud, Head Chef at Bistro Thierry. The Plateau de Fromages was kindly selected by our Culinary Partner, Calendar Cheese, and the delicious wine provided by Maison Castel gave the menu a real taste of France.
David Culbert and Gabriel Gaté added a touch of competition to the event’s atmosphere with an exciting virtual race organised by Fulgaz and BMC. The two winners received wonderful prizes offered by our event partners, including a ride with Cadel Evans at the 2018 Tour Down Under.
The French-Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry would like to express its gratitude to all our Major Sponsors, Event Partners and Supporting Partners for their invaluable contribution towards the success of this event.
A big “Merci” to all the guests who attended the 2017 Tour de France Lunch.
We look forward to seeing you all again for the Tour de France Lunch in July 2018!
