Launch of the VIC Mining Committee

VIC Community news, VIC, Community news  |

The VIC Chapter of the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce has recently launched its Mining Committee to provide new opportunities for current and future members, as well as exchanging ideas on common industry topics and gaining access to relevant information. Our aim is to bring together a group of companies with various skills and areas of expertise, in order to provide innovative added value to the Australian mining industry.

The mining industry is facing new challenges and changes to the way it operates. The French-Australian Chamber seeks to help its current and future members to increase business opportunities in one of the major industries in the Australian economy. Due to challenging economic conditions, access to innovative technology and areas such as mining construction, processing, management, infrastructure, environmental and renewable solutions is of vital importance.

The Victorian Mining Executive committee is led by Charles Vuillier (ATC Williams- Principal Engineer / Strategy & Development) who has been involved in the mining industry for many years, as well as being a committee member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, a member of AustMine and the Melbourne Mining Club.

The VIC Mining Committee held its first meeting on Thursday 25 May at International Chamber House (ICH). We were delighted to welcome Hedley Widdup, Fund Manager at Lion Group and mining expert, to the meeting. Hedley gave a description of the current status of the mining market in Australia and how the mining industry’s boom/bust cycles affect the ebb and flow of investment and their sector’s appetite for innovation. We asked the 15 companies attending the meeting to give a short description of their activities and of their exposure to the mining industry, as well as their expectations from the Committee in order to implement the best strategy and make sure to meet everyone’s expectations.

The VIC Mining Committee will organise another meeting shortly so do not hesitate to let us know if you would like to join (contact:
