Media Release | Mission Pole Mer Business Seminar with Business France

    WA  |

Conference - Pole Mer Mission organised by Business France in partnership with the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FACCI).

On the 16th of June, Business France has partnered with our FACCI WA in order to organise a Business seminar dedicated to French companies wishing to do business in WA.

13 French companies have come to Perth to discover the capability of WA and participated to our conference at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The guest speakers have exposed the legal, commercial and financial conditions for establishing a business in Australia and demonstrated the State capabilities.
A French/Australian company also shared its own experience.

The company, KPMG, one of the audit and council leader, presented the implementation process of companies in Western Australia, explaining the different applicable taxes and also insisted on the corporate social responsibilities. Indeed, they underlined that Australian and aboriginal culture awareness was really important and companies which are willing to settle down in Australia might want to follow a cultural awareness program.

John Shute, country manager at Department of state development, emphasized on the oil and gas capabilities and the maritime expertise in Western Australia which are the employment and human resources assets for the state. With some projects such as Gorgon, Pluto, Ichtys… Australia has invested more than 200 billion dollars in natural liquefied gas. These projects coming to the end of construction will enter in maintenance phase soon for the next 40 years.

Moreover, John Shute mentioned the fact that Western Australia does not limit itself to these two sectors of Industry, but has also other growing activities such as innovation, agribusiness and IT security.

Jerome Monteiro, director of Valco Group Australia, shared his experience about his implantation in Perth by giving some practical advice in order to deal with the geographical distance and the change of culture. Our Special guest, the Mayor of the City of Rockingham also spoke to present the different aspects of its city in terms of development, infrastructure and support made available for projects with potential in boosting the region and developing the commercial activities of Rockingham.

This conference has been set up as part of the mission: “French Sea Innovation Cluster” (Pole Mer) and as a result of a first key trade mission in early 2016.

The aim of this mission is to establish new French-Australian commercial partnerships in order to extend their operations and to team up with local actors for participating to Australian naval program and maritime projects.

Therefore, Business France wished to partner up with the French Australian Chamber of Commerce as FACCI’s principal mission is to promote its members and to support French companies in Australia with its extensive network and services.

We were very proud to meet: Apsys « Securing your business », Alseamar, CNIM « innovate and act », D2m group, CNIM, D2M, DCNS « sea the future », Principia, Emc3, FCE, FIVA « ingénierie&industrie », MINERVA issartel, Planitec Setec, PREDICT « Anticipate and save » et SOFRESUD.
