The fifteenth Rugby League World Cup will be held in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea between 26 October and 2 December 2017. The French Rugby League National team will take part to the World cup and is actually the only team other than Australia and New Zealand to have competed in each World Cup. The first Rugby League World cup in 1954 was a French initiative and was held in France.
During the group stage, the French team will face Australia in Canberra on November 3, with other games against England (Perth, November 12) and Lebanon (Canberra, October 29). Hopefully, it will then take part to direct elimination games in the second half of November.
These games, especially the one against the home side, will have a lot of media exposure in Australia. However, the French team has not yet finalized its budget and especially its jersey sponsoring arrangements. The French Rugby League Federation would be keen to present sponsoring opportunities to interested companies. The French embassy can provide the Federation’s contacts to those interested.
