Adelaide University launches new postgraduate Wine and Food Business Program in an evolving global market

Adelaide University launches a Graduate Certificate in Wine and Food Business to help professionals navigate evolving global wine and food markets.

In response to shifting industry opportunities and challenges, Adelaide University launched the new Graduate Certificate in Wine and Food Business in January 2026.

Designed for industry professionals seeking to upskill, the six-month program has expanded in scope to embrace the fast-growing interconnected worlds of wine and food. This evolution aligns with real-world industry demands, where producers, marketers and leaders must fully understand both wine and food sectors in a global context.

Flexible Intakes and a Holistic Curriculum

With intakes in February and July, the program offers a broader but specialised platform for learning about wine and food value chains using a more holistic perspective. It encompasses wine science, tourism and business which are all essential topics as markets diversify, evolve and become more complex.

World-Class Facilities in South Australia

Based in South Australia, home to preeminent wine and food producers, students also access world-class facilities, such as the Waite Research Institute, responsible for more than two thirds of Australia’s wine and grape research and extension capability.

Core Courses and Curriculum

At its core, the curriculum integrates foundational business disciplines with a specialised focus on food and wine markets. Students explore core courses including Marketing for Wine and Food Business; Growing Domestic and International Wine and Food Markets; and Wine and Food Branding or Retailing, along with a complementary elective of their choice across fields such as management, hospitality or international business.

The program is also part of a nested stackable suite that includes a Graduate Diploma and Master’s program so students can choose to continue their studies.

Unique in Australia, Rare Worldwide

All programs remain unique in Australia and are among the very few in the world that formally integrate both wine and food within a business postgraduate framework. Their comprehensive structure and evolving curriculum speak to the complex challenges and opportunities facing today’s wine and food sectors.

As the wine and food industries continue to evolve, Adelaide University's Graduate Certificate in Wine and Food Business offers professionals the knowledge, skills and global perspective needed to thrive. For those ready to take the next step in their career, this program provides a uniquely integrated and future-focused pathway, right in the heart of one of the world's great food and wine regions.
