Pulse Innovate: A Challenge for Clean Energy Startups

EDF power solutions Australia and Swinburne University join forces with FACET to launch Pulse Innovate.

The global shift to clean energy requires more than new technologies, it relies on collaboration across borders, sectors, and disciplines. In this spirit, EDF power solutions Australia (EDFA) and Swinburne University of Technology have launched Pulse Innovate, supported by the Franco-Australian Centre for Energy Transition (FACET).

Pulse Innovate is designed to identify and support breakthrough innovations in areas such as renewable energy generation, energy storage, grid transmission, alternative clean fuels, and integrated decarbonisation. Over the course of the challenge, selected startups will engage in a curated mix of activities designed to refine their solutions and prepare them for industry engagement including:

  • Insight webinars led by experts from France and Australia, sharing perspectives on market trends, industry developments, and investor priorities.
  • A preliminary, founder-friendly due diligence process to help articulate technical readiness and business model strength.
  • One-on-one sessions with industry experts and innovation specialists.

The journey culminates in the Pulse Innovate Showcase in December 2025, where finalists will present their solutions to an audience of corporate partners, researchers, and investors.

Collectively, Pulse Innovate create a dynamic platform for entrepreneurs to refine their solutions, explore deployment strategies, and forge cross-border collaborations. Beyond the access to the insight webinars, providing expert due diligence, and recognition through final showcase awards, the challenge serves a greater mission: to highlight how collaboration between academia, industry, and startups can drive faster adoption of clean energy technologies.

By bringing together French and Australian complementary strengths, Pulse Innovate highlights the potential of international cooperation to deliver tangible progress in decarbonisation while fostering long-term value across both innovation ecosystems. EDF brings global R&D expertise and industry leadership to the initiative. Swinburne University of Technology contributes research expertise and access to test environments, enabling startups to trial technologies. FACET brings together universities, research institutions, and industry to drive innovation, research, education, and training focused on energy transition.
