spiecapag raises money for indigenous marathon

Spiecapag has raised over $46,000 to support Indigenous youth programs through its participation in the 2026 Brisbane Marathon Festival.

"For many students, these championships are much more than a sporting event. They may represent a first flight, the opportunity to meet children from across Australia, and the chance to visit iconic national institutions such as Parliament House," said Robert de Castella AO MBE, Founder and Director of the Indigenous Marathon Foundation.

Turning Steps into Opportunities for Young First Nations Australians

Spiecapag welcomed Robert de Castella AO MBE, Founder and Director of the Indigenous Marathon Foundation (IMF), to its Head Office earlier this month to present a novelty cheque celebrating the company's fundraising efforts at the 2026 Brisbane Marathon Festival.

Employees, friends and sponsors of Spiecapag raised more than $23,000, which was matched dollar-for-dollar by the company, bringing the total contribution to over $46,000.

Supporting the I-CAN Program

Funds raised by Spiecapag will go directly towards the IMF's I-CAN Program, delivered across remote primary schools in Australia. The contribution will help:

  • Support delivery of the I-CAN Program in four communities
  • Encourage improved school attendance, academic performance, and physical activity and health
  • Help students attend the National I-CAN Championships in Canberra
  • Provide life-changing experiences and connections for young people from remote Australia

A Significant Experience for Students

Speaking about the significance of the program, de Castella said the championships offer far more than a sporting event for many students. He noted the experience can mark a young person's first flight, an opportunity to meet children from across Australia, and a chance to visit national institutions such as Parliament House.
