Jamie Smyth is an Irish journalist based in Sydney (Australia).

Currently he is an Australia and Pacific correspondent of the Financial Times.

In the past he was a social affairs correspondent with The Irish Time and has previously worked in Brussels as the newspaper's European Correspondent, where he first began writing about the “sham marriage” industry. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Smyth studied History at Trinity College Dublin and later journalism at Dublin City University.
