Airbus and SolarBuddy Bring Solar Power to Amata
Airbus in Australia has partnered with SolarBuddy to install solar lighting in a remote Indigenous community in South Australia.
The teams from Airbus were thrilled to visit and install solar lighting in the Indigenous community of Amata, located in the state of South Australia. Children in the community are now able to continue their social and educational activities well into the evening, thanks to the newly installed solar lighting.
As part of the initiative, Airbus team members conducted workshops where children participated in the JuniorBuddy programme. This hands-on experience allowed them to build their own solar kits, fostering an understanding of renewable energy technology. In addition, interactive STEM workshops introduced the children to the wonders of aerospace.
Solar power offers the Amata community reliable and affordable energy access, significantly reducing household air pollutants compared to generators and inefficient fuel combustion. This transition not only enhances educational attainment but also boosts health and economic development.
