Novotel and WWF-Australia support the Blue Corridors initiative to safeguard whale migration routes

Novotel and WWF-Australia support Blue Corridors, advancing whale migration research, ocean conservation and awareness across Australia.
Novotel and WWF-Australia have come together to support the Blue Corridors initiative in Australia, helping advance research and conservation efforts focused on whale migration routes.
Launched during Australia’s annual humpback whale migration, the initiative brought together media, conservation experts and industry partners at Novotel Sydney Darling Square, before heading onto Sydney Harbour to observe these marine pathways and learn more about the work being undertaken to protect them.
Supporting whale migration routes
Whale migration journeys across the Pacific highlight the importance of the marine ecosystems through which they travel. Blue Corridors are the migration routes used by whales between habitats for feeding, breeding, giving birth and socialising.
Through its collaboration with WWF-Australia, Novotel is supporting research and conservation efforts aimed at improving understanding of these routes and helping protect whale migration safe passages and other high-value marine areas.
Novotel is also working with WWF-Australia to support collaborative conservation efforts across the region, including:
- Contributing to the protection of 100 million hectares of ocean in the Southern Hemisphere, in support of protecting 30% of Australia’s oceans in marine sanctuaries by 2030.
- Supporting research and advocacy to protect whale migration safe passages and other high-value marine areas.
- Raising awareness of the importance of healthy oceans and the role they play in sustaining life on Earth.
- Educating audiences and guests about the need for ocean protection, today and for generations to come.
From global commitment to local action
The Australian initiative forms part of the broader partnership between Novotel and WWF, which focuses on protecting and restoring ocean health through science-based conservation.
The longstanding partnership between Novotel and WWF-France reflects this shared focus on ocean health, with the collaboration now extending to local initiatives in Australia.
Through the Blue Corridors initiative, this global commitment is being brought to life locally by supporting WWF-Australia’s research, advocacy and conservation work around whale migration routes, while also raising awareness among guests and audiences of the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.
The collaboration between Novotel and WWF-Australia brings together the hospitality and conservation sectors to support research, awareness and marine conservation across Australia and the Pacific.
