CEFC releases the Australian Hydrogen Market Study

Hydrogen has the potential to make a substantial contribution to a clean energy transition, reducing emissions across the economy.

CEFC releases the Australian hydrogen market study. The study, prepared by global energy analysts Advisian, part of the Worley Group, provides insights into the potential competitiveness and key hurdles associated with advancing the Australian hydrogen economy.

Transport is leading the drive, with the study finding that green hydrogen is already approaching cost competitiveness in some parts of the sector and has the potential to become commercially viable across further sectors of transportation as early as 2030.

The key drivers for competitive hydrogen costs included:
- Declining electrolyser capital costs
- Increasing cost competitiveness of renewable energy
- Improving installation and operational efficiencies
