Mazars expands tax division appointing new partner

Mazars, the international audit and advisory firm, announces the appointment of Tax Partner, Robert James, expanding its tax consulting division.

This significant appointment reflects the continual desire for the firm to meet the needs of clients providing a strong tax consulting capability and a point of difference in the marketplace.

Robert James joins Mazars from Grant Thornton bringing with him 18 years experience specialising in Mergers & Acquisitions, as well as specialist taxes, corporate and international tax. Robert holds a Bachelor of Business at Charles Darwin University and a Masters of Tax at Melbourne University.

Richard DeBono, Melbourne Managing Partner, said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Robert to the firm. His track record of creating value through clear, timely and pragmatic advice further strengthens our position as a solid compass for our clients. Now more than ever clients need clear guidance and Robert will be a great addition to the team.“

The appointment of Robert James echoes the ongoing expansion of the mid-tier firm who in July announced the promotion of two new partners to the Melbourne office including Evan Beissel.

Robert James commented, saying:

“Mazars is a highly reputable firm with a significant international presence. I am really excited to be joining the Mazars team at this early stage of their growth journey in Australia. I genuinely believe that the opportunities available to Mazars are second to none. I’m looking forward to working with Evan and the team to further strength the tax advisory division.”

The national expansion of Mazars tax consulting division has seen strategic appointments made in each of their three Australian offices throughout 2019 and 2020.

The firm with 330+ staff in Australia were recently announced the winners of the Professional Development Firm of the Year Award and Network of the Year Award at the 2020 AccountantsDaily Australian Accounting Awards and was ranked the fastest growing firm by the Australian Financial Review (AFR), achieving the highest year on year growth of any firm in the 2019 AFR Top 100 Accounting Firms.
