Safran Electronics and Defense Australasia appoint Peter Harris as the new CEO

Leadership has changed at Safran Electronics and Defense Australasia with Peter Harris taking over as the new CEO.

Safran Electronics and Defense Australasia has appointed Peter Harris as new CEO, taking over this role on 14th October 2024, along with becoming the Safran Country Delegate for Australia and New Zealand. Peter brings impressive management and leadership experience in the corporate sector, which followed a distinguished career in the Australian Defence Force.

Peter Harris joined Safran from Airbus, where he held several key roles in Australia and Europe. These included Vice President of Strategy, Sales, and Marketing at Airbus Australia Pacific, and prior to that, Director of Program Change and Head of Customer Satisfaction at Airbus Helicopters in France. More recently, Safran's new CEO was appointed Airbus Head of Public Affairs for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific. During his time at Airbus, Peter led strategic initiatives, driving sales growth and expanding into new markets. Additionally, Peter has worked at Bombardier Transportation as Head of Strategy and Sales, in manufacturing and technical services.

Before transitioning to his corporate career, Peter served 23 years in the Australian Defence Force, including with the United Nations in Cambodia. He holds an Aerospace Engineering Degree with Honours and post-graduate qualifications and has been officially honoured by both the Australian and French governments.

Peter is excited with his new role and plans to achieve great outcomes for the customers of Safran. He said;

We all see what challenges are being faced by governments, airlines and societies, due lo security and climate change issues. I am delighted to be joining Safran, a globally recognised technology leader, and to be part of your contributions in Australia and New Zealand."
